14 BJW Players Selected in 2018 NHL Entry Draft!

Boston, MA - The Boston Junior Whalers are excited to share that a remarkable 14 current and former players were selected last week at the 2018 NHL Entry Draft. 

The group was headlined by three players in Quinn Hughes, Oliver Wahlstrom, and Jay O'Brien all being selected in the First Round.

Below you will find a complete list of Boston Junior Whalers 1998, 1999 and 2000-born players who were selected in the 2018 NHL Entry Draft:


Round #1:

Quinn Hughes - Vancouver Canucks (University of Michigan / 7th Overall)

Oliver Wahlstrom - New York Islanders (U.S. National Development Team / 11th Overall)

Jay O'Brien - Philadelphia Flyers (Thayer Academy / 19th Overall)


Round #2:

Mattias Samuelsson - Buffalo Sabres (U.S. National Development Team / 32nd Overall)

Akil Thomas - Los Angeles Kings (Niagara Ice Dogs OHL / 51st Overall)


Round #3:

Jordan Haris - Montreal Canadiens (Kimball Union Academy / 71st Overall)

Joey Keane - New York Rangers (Barrie Colts OHL / 88th Overall)


Round #4:

Tyler Weiss - Colorado Avalanche (U.S. National Development Team / 109th Overall)


Round #5:

Riley Damaini - Dallas Stars (Kitchener Rangers OHL / 137th Overall)

Dennis Busby - Arizona Coyotes (Flint Firebirds OHL / 145th Overall)


Round #6:

Emilio Pettersen - Calgary Flames (Muskegon Lumberjacks USHL / 167th Overall)

Mitch Hoelscher - New Jersey Devils (Ottawa 67's / 172nd Overall)

Liam Gorman - Pittsburgh Penguins (St. Sebastian's School / 177th Overall)

John Leonard - San Jose Sharks (University of Massachusetts Amherst / 182nd Overall)
